Brief
Third, so far final and manufactured version of the invisible terrace floor joint designed for exterior wood and wood-composite floorings. Main objective of the project was to design hidden, durable and reliable floor joints which would be easy to mount and to work with. Key advantage of the product is easy and non-destructive floor plank replacement in case of its damage just with the use of one hex key.
Description
With each iteration there was a material, space saving and manufacturing requirements optimization. Final product version consists of just two simple parts - knob and base - connected by simple yet strong bayonet shape interlock. The parts are designed as bi-directional, so it is impossible to mount them in the wrong direction. Base part is securely fixed by two self-drilling torx screws to the under grid. Flaps keep the planks in place after turning the knob 90° by 5 mm hex key and firmly sliding into the grooves. In case of replacement turn the knob 90° again and easily remove damaged planks. Both parts are designed for plastic injection molding manufacturing and made of glass fiber reinforced polyamide - PA66+GF33.
